Description: March is Heartworm Awareness Month. Heartworm positive pets are on the rise in San Joaquin County. Prevention for a canine is a monthly tablet purchased through your veterinarian and for cats a topical solution once a month also purchased through your veternarian. For the month of March, Lathrop Veterinary Center is offering heartworm tests at a reduced price. A heartworm test will cost $30. Once tested and examined by a veterinarian you can start your monthly prevention. Heartworm is a serious illness that can go undetected for years and cause your pet major organ damage and even death.
