Family and friends traditionally gather for parties on Labor Day weekend. Celebrate the last holiday of the summer season responsibly.

Cops will capture drunken drivers, and we want them too.

Instead of going home from work on April 10, 1992, I was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton. I was paralyzed and in a coma with several injuries because a drunken driver hit me head-on six months after I received my license at 16.

Medical care and therapy followed in San Ramon, San Jose, and Tracy.

My visible wounds healed, yet scars remain. I lost my hearing ability and my speech is damaged. Walking again was challenging.

These injuries can easily prevent anyone from occupations. I am fortunate to have a job, yet it was not what I planned for a career.

I am 34 and a strong partner with local CHP departments. Our goal is to end the number of drunks on the road. Removing all is possible with your help.

We expect all alcohol drinkers to select a sober designated driver. It is truly better to not drink and drive, since drinking lightly can impair your judgment and driving ability.

Avoid opening the upcoming holiday season from jail or a hospital bed. Prevent yourself and others from driving drunk. Call 911 to report anyone driving erratically.
