This is old news. I remember something like this back in the 90's.
Makes one wonder why the only answer is fear.
This all is to be blamed on TV. People have to suspend reality to watch a TV show, and the same is true to believe in conspiracies.
The last documented 'Garden Plot' activities were in 1973. There is little doubt this is more radical right wing garbage dredged up from the past. If there were 800 'concentration camps' set up by FEMA, it would be front page news. One would have to be a moron to buy into this.
Unfortunately, this country has a large supply of morons who do believe things like this.
You would think with 800 of them someone would notice them. I read all of the time that people find unusual things with Google Earth. Seems this would be something that would have been found already.
Makes a great urban legend, though.
TheConservativeHillbilly site is filled with conspiracy theories ,scary individuals. They do not seem to like anybody very much.
And for the ones that copy and paste the comments from the Bulletin bloggers to that site and the other, I bid you a Hello!
I know for a fact that much of REX 84 is real, and the ground work was started back in the LBJ years. I was there, I should know. FEMA is not what you think it is.
As for the Conservative Hillbilly's site? He has a lot of factual information posted there, and some of it was provided by me. So many people in this country either are too busy living their lives, or, are just plain ignorant to what is going on in this country. Dwight D.E warned us along time ago, we all should listen to what he said. He was right.
You'll forgive me if I don't buy into your 'conspiracy crap'...
I believe there are contingency plans for dealing with domestic disturbances, but they came about because of our inability to properly handle events during LBJ's tenure, like Kent State, and not because of some government conspiracy to incarcerate US citizens.
There is NO proof that 800 'FEMA concentration camps' exist. With 800 of them, there has to be one or more in California. Tell me where they are and I will gladly drive there, verify their existence, and make a public apology...
Look, the government has always has contingency plans for everything from civil unrest to nuclear catastrophe. These plans have been made, altered, revised, and in some cases deleted due to current events. I have no doubt 'Garden Plot' existed... there is documentary evidence of such. But REX84 is nothing more than an extremist fear mongering plot.
If these 'camps' actually existed, why weren't they used for victims of Katrina rather than sending them to Houston? Why did FEMA construct so many 'trailer parks' at such great expense if facilities already existed?
The 'Conservativehillbilly' site is just one of hundreds of extremist radical disinformation sites. There are those who will buy into that garbage, but anyone with an ounce of reason will see it for what it is... trash.
Eisenhower did warn of the military industrial complex and what may happen, much of it has. But REX84 is not one of them, and only exists in demented and deranged minds...
I respect your opinion but disagree. In my experience REX84 makes no sense. I was also 'there' and dealt with contingency as well as operations plans. Such contingency plans were developed over the years and modified or rescinded as needed. Plans such as Garden Plot exist, but plans and contingencies to deprive law abiding citizens of their rights do not.
As has been pointed out, there is NO evidence that FEMA or anyone else has constructed camps to house US citizens. If you can show me proof, I will admit I was wrong. But I cannot believe that if there were 800 camps constructed as you and others claim, that there has been no evidence of even one.
The Conservative Hillbilly site is but one of countless extreme radical right wing websites all claiming the same thing and posting the identical opinion blogs from one to another. There may well be something factual among the materials posted, whether by you or someone else, but I prefer to obtain my facts from reliable sources and not blog sites.
I disagree with your contention that so many people are too busy or ignorant to know what is going on. For the most part American citizens are far more informed than you give them credit for. Not accepting propaganda from radicals is not a sign people are ignorant, just smart.
Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us of many things, what are you referring to specifically? He warned us about the great Soviet menace, and we defeated it. He warned us about the danger of letting the post war military establishment grow out of control. Today we are paying the price with wars we shouldn't be in, military contracts that bankrupt us, and defense spending that has been out of control for decades. On that point, I agree with you.
