The Global Warming Hoax Revealed at Last

If you get your news and information exclusively from Fox and talk radio, the conclusions are inescapable. The recent storms hitting the east coast are the final evidence that global warming is nothing more than a scam designed to make money for Al Gore.

I read one news report that said US Senator Jim Inhofe R-OK built an igloo on the Capitol grounds and stuck a sign on it "Al Gore Lives Here".

I grew up in Washington DC, the actual city not the suburbs of Maryland or Virginia. In talking to my mother last week, she does indeed describe snowstorms the like of which I never experienced in my youth. What is going on?

Amidst all the snickering and guffawing from the right, I think the most obvious thing to point out is that the good folks up in Vancouver are having a fit because they are experiencing their warmest February weather ever. There is a fear that some of the venues for the Olympics which start this weekend may not be suitable for world class competition.. After all they do call it "global warming" and not "America's east coast warming".

But even with the unusually balmy weather in Canada, those of us who believe that climate change is real should not emulate the mistakes of the talk radio crowd where scientific arguments take a back seat to hatred of Al Gore. Climate change as I, a layman understands it, is not somethng that will be proven or disproven by next week's weather forecast. It is a process that has and will continue to unfold over several decades.

All we need to do is to look at what the science has said and has been saying.

The extreme weather afflicting the east coast right now, has been a consensus prediction of the scientific community for a number of years

Simply stated, THE PEOPLE WHO TELL US GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL ARE ALSO THE PEOPLE WHO TOLD US FOR YEARS THAT THIS KIND OF WEATHER WOULD HAPPEN!!!!

If anything, it would be the warm weather in Vancounver that would serve to refute these predictions from several years ago. But that's what happens when hating liberals is the foundation of your argument, instead of reason, logic, and science. Right wing politicians get reelected, millionaire talk show entertainers enjoy a ratings bump, and their constituencies are not given objective, honest information.

The first link is from October 2005. The sceond is from 1997. These are no Johnny-come-lately damage control rationalizations from scientists caught with their pants down. This is what a significant segment of the scientific community has predicted for over a decade.

No matter how much you may hate Al Gore or left wing politics, it does not change the simple fact that the weather on the east coast is evidence that the predictions of the climate change scientists are correct.

If their predictions are correct, then just maybe their conclusions that man is the cause of global warming, are correct as well.

As Earth gets warmer, large regions will experience heavier rain and snowfall as weather becomes generally more intense, according to a new study.

Blizzards and snow storms may actually increase in intensity and frequency in some colder locations as atmospheric moisture increases. In more temperate latitudes, snowstorms are likely to decrease in frequency, but their intensity may actually increase, as the world warms.

Look. El Nino is present as all Meteorologists are telling us. This is the reason for the warming. "Decades" does not prove anything. Recorded weather only credibly goes back 180 years. In 1988 the Calgary Olympics melted also, and this was when the same scientists (give or take a few) stated we were in global cooling. Al Gore has proven that he is a hypocrite and has made another fortune with his lecture series. Forgetting perhaps that his family made a veritable fortune in the cattle industry (supposedly one of the factors to global warming). So his word is not only an uneducated one but smells suspiciously like "Green" backs.
You type and I quote "significant segment of the scientific community has predicted for over a decade". Anequal amount of scientists refute those rediculous statements.
I do personally believe that the globe is warming. And in about 700 years as the other part of science states we will increase temperatures to the point of maybe .8 degrees. But the warming is not a direct result of greed and capitalism. North America was 1500 feet under ice less than 10,000 years ago. Of course the globe is warming! It is a natural cycle.

Youcandoit, I have never said that I believe capitalism is the cause of all the world's troubles. Since I have never said such a thing, it does not surprise me that you cannot cite a quote of mine to back up your false accusation.

Ironic, that you accuse me of posting falsehoods, yet it is you who claims I believe something that I do not believe and have *NEVER* said in this forum or anywhere else.

Kidmason, you wrote

""You type and I quote "significant segment of the scientific community has predicted for over a decade". Anequal amount of scientists refute those rediculous statements.""

The prediction I referred to, concerned the increasingly warm temperaures leading to unusually intense storms in both summer and winter.

Can you explain why a prediction that has proven to be quite accurate this winter is "ridiculous"?

I will happily refrain from misconstruing your comments if you will return the favor.

I cannot control your perceptions about what I write. I can only control my own words.

Since my words on several occasions have spoken in favor of capitalism, I respectfully submit that your conclusions about my views on free enterprise are incorrect.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, my comments from just a few weeks ago. I can tolerate many, many things.

But false claims about what I believe is not one of those things.

http://community.mantecabulletin.com/...

I have no problem at all with capitalism and profit. I also think it is a bogus right wing stereotype that the left is universally anti profit. Nothing could be further from the truth. George Soros, Bill Gates, and Ted Turner are three of the richest men in the known universe. They are all quite liberal. I have plans for my own small business in the not too distant future. I certainly hope that it will be profitable, and perhaps even be able to provide a job or two to someone else.

My problem is not with private enterprise, but with its inflexible advocates who would insist that the market is always a superior solution, as opposed to government.

anthony002 commented on Thursday, Feb 25, 2010 at 11:12 AM

Youcandoit, yes I do criticize the shortcomings of capitalism.

What I objected to is portrayal of my criticism as universal hatred of the free market.

Yes I do think that a free market economy puts freedom in direct proportion to how much cash we have.

I would love to have a house on the Sonoma Coast near Bodega Bay. I do not have the cash to afford such a residence. I do not equate that with tyranny, but it is an undisputable fact.

My ability to live in a home on the Sonoma coast is restricted. Whether by lack of cash or by a government restriction, for me the result is exactly the same. That is what I mean when I say our freedom is defined by how much money we have.

Lack of financial resources restricts your options as surely as any governmet regulation could. I say that not in condemnation, but in observation of the facts.

I find it interesting the number of people who do not understand the term GLOBAL. Global warming or global climate change is exactly that, a global change, not a change in the weather in a small part of the United States. While some of us sit here and mention how cold it is in our backyards, the polar ice caps continue to melt at an increasingly faster rate as each year goes by. As far as this being something only Al gore believes in, someone needs to get a grip on reality and look who else in this big glovbal environment is also bringing up the facts on GLOBAL climate change.
