We haven't been to Kelleys in years either. Last time we went the tri-tip meat sandwich was tough and the salad consisted of bagged greens which I can't stand the smell/taste.
Or perhaps the author is taking the 40-year resident at his word that the food was previously not very good, but found it to be satisfying when he visited; consequently it has "improved".
Why do we always want to think the absolute worst about people?
I've eaten at Kelly Brothers several times. I found the food satisfactory. Comparing it to Olive Garden and it was not nearly as good. Compared to McDonalds it was a feast. Each diner has their own opinion and standards, what is good to one may not meet another's standards. It is, as they say, it is...
It should be 'too'.
The quality or lack of quality in the food is but one factor in whether a business decides to close or not. I'm sure there are others who may share your opinion, but there are also those who share mine. It is up to the owner's to decide if the many factors that influence a business' success are sufficient to remain open or close, not just their food.
I have been meaning to stop by KB. But i keep going back to the Webers BBQ joint.
But, you know which sucks most. "Casa Flores" by Louise and Main, (more on main). Now, having grown up with authentic mexican food, i had a biased opinion.
But i took the family there 2 months back. We are also new and well, we are hitting every food place in manteca 1 at a time to find out which places we like the most.
Casa Flores just made the chuck it up bucket. I gag'd all the way through dinner. I was going to complain, but i decided to make my stance with my wallet. No Tip and no return service. Rositas across the street has better fast food than Casa Flores sit down.
I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for 3 days. I was willing to syphon some gasoline and spit it out just to take the Casa Flores vile taste out of my mouth.
