my question? How do you all view Sarah?
As an Alaskan who reads I have mixed emotions..looking forward to your feedback.
I don't think she is intellectually honest.
She condemns "socialism" but as governor, she presided over and enthusiastically defended the Alaska Oil Royalty program. That program is the most overtly socialist government program in the country. Every man, woman and child in Alaska gets a check every year, regardless of economic need. The only requirement is to have drawn breath in Alaska during the previous 12 months.
In a Vanity Fair interview where she discussed the program, she even used the phrase "share the wealth" to boast about the success of the Oil Royalty program, but that did not stop her from condemning Obama for using the exact same words.
I also think she intentionally is divisive as noted by her reference to "real Americans", meaning those who do not support her views are not real Americans.
But overall, I think it is her supporters who discredit her the most with their own hypocrisy. They smile and swoon at her every move. People are camping outdoors overnight at malls to get in line for book signings. Yet they ridicule Obama supporters and call us "kool aid drinkers".
During the campaign, her supporters insisted that she was qualified for VP, yet just a few weeks before she was nominated, these same folks insisted that the Democratic governor of Virginia was not qualified when there were rumors circulating that Tim Kane would be Obama's running mate.
In summary, she is a conservative and I recognize that she and her supporters will have opinions different from mine. That I can respect. But along with her conservative views, comes a healthy dose of dishonesty and outright hypocrisy. That, I cannot respect. Nor can I respect someone whose aspirations for higher office employ a strategy of implying that the President of the United States wants to euthanize people.
Don't listen to Anthony007, he doesn't think anyone with a conservative background is intellectually honest or anything else. or should I just say he doesnt think....
i agree with lickoflibs. anthony doesn't like anyone who is not an obama fan. i personally like sarah palin and hope she keeps on doing what she's doing. staying in the spotlight and not afraid to call them like she sees them. he anthony you're starting in again about the "share the wealth" thing?? differnce is the alaska program shares big company wealth with people. obama "share the wealth" requires those of us who actually have some, to give it up for those that don't, won't, and never will.
Thank you for your imput, everyone has valid issues. Personally I think Sarah is under qualified for any office. Alaska is full of women who aren't afraid to speak their minds like anywhere else in this great country. Most of us learn the job we are at before we move onto another we know nothing about. Sarah may end up being the biggest poohfaf of all. Ross is going to be miffed for coming in second
republ_i_can I figured you would find some way to rationalize the right wing hypocrisy on the issue of sharing the wealth and socialism.
Socialism works. That is my point. Thanks for confirming it.
I am supporting Republican Tom Campbell for governor,
It is a lie to say that I dislike anyone not an Obama fan. A right winger on this forum is lying,,, and in other news of the equally unexpected, the sun rose in the east.
sure socialism works, badly. section 8 works well too, just ask my low-life druggie neighbors. shooting someone in the head works too, just ask all the people who have been murdered this year, oh wait you can't. okay child molestation works, just ask the poor kids who are raped all the time by animals who should have been kept locked up (i know you are anti-3 strikes) but come on....great lets "share the wealth" with all these great people and do it your way.
Republincan it sucks for you I guess you live in the low life area of town. Maybe it is time to pack it up and move since your making all this cash and do not want to share go buy in the better part of town.
My neighbors who is are renters are great take good care of the place but I guess when you can pay a little more in rent you will get a better quilfied tenant.
Not all peopel on section are low lifes. I have had several who were great. It is all in how you quilify them.
You can call San Joaquin housing if they are truely on section and make a complaint to them and the tenant could lose their housing. But first you may want to call the police a few tiems to have a record of their activity. Most leases have a clause were they are to respect the other neighbors rights and not have illegal activity. If you already have this info you can call today.
sucks for me that someone (property manager type) rented to a low life in my nice neighborhood. i have called the police, the county, the INS, but still they remain. i guess we'll all be seeing alot more of this in the future. I don't "make all this cash", I worked hard and made a nice nestegg which I shouldn't have to share with anyone I don't choose to.
Repub, the phrase and concept of "share the wealth" goes back to the beginning of our country, and that was before the concept of "socialism" was established. Thomas Paine, who was one of the leading founders spoke of "sharing the wealth."
I am not a big fan of wasted tax dollars either, but helping the down trodden is a concept that goes back to Jesus, and his teaching of assisting those who are in need. We as a country spend far more on subsidizing wealth corporations then we do helping the poor.
Judging by your description of your neighbors, it sounds like you live on the sweet side of town.
Concerning Palin, and Republicans in general, there are, or should I say were, plenty of good republicans who aren't extreme. Sarah Palin is a personality but in no way is she qualified to be president. We are of the people and by the people, but the world is complex and she isn't, and we need someone in that position who understands complex issues. She isn't dumb, look how far she has gotten on personality alone. She knows how to build straw men to tear down, but she doesn't offer solutions. She tells the extreme disenfranchised what they want to hear, but not how to fix complex issues. Sound bites do not fix anything.
Republican: Sorry dude not me I do the Stockton area. All mine go through criminal credit, rental, work history back ground checks. Do not pass any of the reports you do not get a place from me. Just denied a guy who had excellent credit & rental history made great money but felony burglary ten years old not living in my place. So do not blame me blame one of our own local agents.
My advice to you is if you went to the police there should be records already. If the police do not help you take the owner to civil court. It cost less than $100 bucks to file I would think it would be worth your while if they made life that bad for you.
