President Eisenhower was exactly right. The fact that your only response is "well duh" is all the confirmation required.
Your spirited defense of war profiteers I am sure brought a smile to the faces of people for whom endless military conflict is quite profitable.
It is interesting that those who complain about the so called race card, do not hesitate to invoke the "hate America" card.
So pardon me but I will NOT shut up. Today of all days is when we need to redouble our efforts to make sure that the men and women in uniform are sent into harm's way only when necessary to protect our republic; not to make war profiteers rich.
sorry if that concept offends you.
and yet another voice is added to the right wing chorus that has little to offer other than ad hominem and insults.
History tells us that the over sized military with its $680 billion and growing yearly budget (and they complained about a one time $700 billion stimulus bill as being excessive)is as un-American as it can be.
Just look to the writings of our founders (focus on Washington, Madison, and Monroe) and you will see that they believed that maintaining a large military and constant wars will mean a lose of National Treasure and the citizens who serve to protect this nation. They stated that it will cause this country to continually raise taxes to support such an Army, and bring the eventual end of our country. They continually prove to be correct in their forecasts.
One thing we have to remember, that these "real" Americans were not fearful, or fear mongering, so they will be out of step with the type of leadership that we have had for the last 30 years.
