Sometimes Clowns Can Be Scary

After reading the pathetic attempt by L. Brent Bozell III to whitewash the infamous photograph of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer pointing a finger in President Obama’s face on the tarmac at the Phoenix airport. I moved on to a letter in the YOUR VIEWS section titled “Political hot air creates global warming”. I expected something about the ongoing Clown Show, the Republican Primary. What we all got was a clown show of a different order.
First the Bozell nonsense. Bozell tries to wash over the Arizona “Finger” incident by comparing it with the Iraqi shoe toss by an Iraqi journalist by the name of al-Zeidi in Bagdad who was directing his sandal barrage at President Bush. Bozell’s complaint? Why wasn’t there the same “outrage” displayed by the, what Bozell likes to describe as the “Media Elite” as they did in the ‘dustup in the desert’? Then he goes on to quote the “Media Elite”. From CBS anchor Katie Couric, Bozell cries she “failed to muster any outrage at the disrespect when she quoted a CBS reporter who said “It’s not a Democratic or Republican issue but a question of how the President is treated”. What did Bozell want Couric to do, pound her fists on the anchor desk? Then Bozell complains about the Iraqi quotes on the incident being reported. Of course the Iraqi quotes would not be expected to support Bush, they didn’t like the guy. I don’t know why they disliked him so much, maybe his being perceived by most Iraqis as having been instrumental in the deaths of thousands of their people over what has been proven to be non-existent WMDs, might have something to do with it. So how does that incident (An Iraqi journalist IN BAGDAD) compare to a sitting Gov. disrespecting the Office of the President visiting her state? This disrespect isn’t something new for this President, it has happened before, remember the “You Lie” incident during the Presidents address to Congress? I am sure it won’t be the last, such is the outright hatred for Obama by the far Right. Like I said, Bozell, pathetic, just pathetic.
Now back to the Global Warming letter. The writer first complains about the California High Speed Rail, and labels the project as “Jerry Brown’s Electric Train Set” mind you he doesn’t complain about whether it makes economic sense to build it or even question who will actually ride it, both logical questions. No, he complains about who is going to pay for the electricity to run the train once it is built. Who does he think will pay? Who pays the electric bill for BART? Does the writer have those same concerns for BART or Light Rail in Sacramento or San Francisco?
The writer then goes after Obama for his attempt to “..unravel the industrial capacity of the country”. I assume he means how he “unraveled” General Motors and brought it back from the brink of bankruptcy to be, once again, the leading Automobile Producer in the world. Maybe he can elaborate on that? What the writer does do extremely well is reveal his real Clown potential when he claims President Obama is a Muslim and he will vote for “Anyone but Obama”. These are the kind of clowns that will say anything to demean the President even when they know it isn’t true, like, “He really isn’t a real American” or “He really didn’t attend the schools he said he did” or he “doesn’t have a Birth Certificate” or he “Doesn’t have a Social Security Number” or the countless other ignorant statements we all have heard over and over. This doesn’t show a disagreement with policy as much as it, once more, shows just plain hate for the man. Sometimes Clowns aren’t as funny as they are scary.

Larry,

Great letter, you are showing how those on the right are trying to promote drama and discontent on every aspect of our President's term in office.

You point out Bozell’s frustrations with the corporate media not fabricating a story out of a simple picture. A simple picture that has a narrative of witnesses who were actually there at the time the picture was taken, but a narrative that does not play into the feigned indignation of the right. We see this all of the time, the right continues to feign indication with the hopes that the American people will get caught up in the drama as opposed to reality.

It must be hard coming from the right when the right is responsible for so much of the pain that Americans are living with now. The reputation in the world that the last administration and his party gained was an embarrassing one, and the right continues to try and show that it was not bad policy, but rather a misconception on how it was reported.

For the last three years the right has tried to make anything this President does as a high crime and misdemeanor, regardless of the fact that he is following the constitution's limitations on his job title. This is obvious in the point that you make concerning Bozell's concern that the corporate media was not reporting the Iraq war according to the right wing talking points.

It's so sad to see the right deteriorate into high school girls thinking with all of the fabrications they have spouted about the president. The nice thing is they blew their wad pulling out all of the stops early. Now anything they say is brushed off by Americans as more BS from the right.

This is all leading to a lack of enthusiasm on the right. The recent Florida primary drew 1.3 million voters, down from 4 years ago, in a state of 18 million. That makes it 1/18th of the population of Florida went to vote in the Republican primary. That means if you had 18 people in a room, only one of those people voted in the Republican primary. Now there is enthusiasm!

There was another Bozell gem in the paper today.... This guy lives in the bubble the right has created for itself.
